One of the original ideas of the Independent Ski Tests was to use the numerical data to find patterns in ski preference. Would all the skiers who normally ski on Brand “A” have a similar reaction to Brand “B”? Would lighter skiers prefer one ski over heavier skiers? Would skiers whose best score is higher or lower prefer one ski or another?

This seemed most interesting with the skis that received mixed results. Over the 3 days 10 different skiers rode the Connelly F1. Five of them ranked the ski as Above Average or Outstanding, 1 skier called the ski Average and 4 skiers called the ski Below Average or Poor. On final analysis, we did not discover any clear trends or patterns during the 100 plus test ski rides which tied the skier's stats to their favorite picks.
