Olde
Oaks is located approximately 3.5 miles from Joe's lake (Cottonwood) so
it only makes sense to conduct the tests at a two lake venue. We pooled
our resources to put on this event. It is a very rare opportunity to
take part in an event of this magnitude much less host it. From a
skiers perspective, how often does one get a chance to have every new
ski at his beck and call for three days in his own back yard. I was in
heaven, not to mention having a handful of the nations best and most
knowledgeable buoy chasers to ski with and potential of a little mag
coverage. All of the skis tested had potential to perform great. Some
I expected to hate I loved and some I expected to like I hated. There
is truly no ONE SKI above all anymore. The design and technology makes
choosing a ski an incredibly hard decision, one I hope I don't have to
make this summer. The biggest thing I realized this weekend is why I
ski. It isn't performance, exercise or travel, but the relationships I
have built over the last 10 years
competing.
It is truly a unique sport and a wonderful experience to be a part of
the skiing community. As far as the ski test, I hope we can all get it
organized again for next year. Mr. Peabody, you are welcome at the Olde
Oaks bed and breakfast anytime.
peace out- skidawg. P.S. I want to thank all the boys beating themselves up for three days (greeny, jones, chad) and thank my wife for putting up with all of us at the same time. I don't want to leave out Mr. Jed "stinky" Blackburn, next year let your wife do the pool maintenance so you don't break anymore bones, you definitely missed a fun time. till next year.
